A Steller's Jay

Having spent most of my life living in Ontario, when I think of a Jay bird I think of a Blue Jay.

The first time I laid eyes on a Steller's Jay, the kind found in BC, I was in awe of their differences.

There is a squirrel feeder in the backyard here with peanuts in it, a Jay's favourite treat, so it has given me the opportunity to capture them with my camera.

The Stellar's Jay is beautiful too. I really enjoyed seeing them when we were out west last winter. We've seen a lot of blue jays lately. There were lots around the cottage at Lindsay and there are quite a few in our campground here in Ottawa. Both very pretty birds. Too bad they're so noisy!
