One of the slimy joys of west coast living is the presence of slugs...lots of them. Two years ago while we were on Vancouver Island, we encountered huge ones (I think they were called banana slugs) but here the ones we've seen so far are a lot smaller. (Whew!)Everytime it rains (which so far is a lot) they come out in large quantities so we see an abundance of them. It means that in order to NOT "slipslide away", I make a point of looking down when I walk. Aren't they cute?
